Protecting the integrity of the House.
At Nicole Ivy, authenticity is not simply a matter of identification. It is part of provenance — the record of where an object began, how it entered a home, and how its story may continue from one generation to the next.
Our Certificates of Authenticity, edition records, provenance practices, and brand-protection measures are designed to preserve that history and protect the integrity of the House.
Certificates of Authenticity
Designated Nicole Ivy pieces and collections may be accompanied by a Certificate of Authenticity issued by Nicole Ivy LLC.
Where a piece belongs to a numbered or limited edition, its Certificate may identify information associated with that edition and its place within it.
The Certificate serves as a record of origin and is intended to remain with the corresponding Nicole Ivy piece throughout its life.
It is part of the piece's provenance — a connection between its origin, its first owner, and those who may eventually receive it.

A Record of Origin
A Certificate of Authenticity is more than documentation.
It helps establish the origin of a Nicole Ivy piece and creates a record intended to remain with the object as it moves through time.
Nicole Ivy was founded on the belief that meaningful objects can mark an occasion, preserve a memory, and eventually become part of someone else's story.
The Certificate helps preserve that continuity.
To inherit is to receive a story already in motion.
For this reason, Nicole Ivy recommends that the original Certificate of Authenticity remain with its corresponding piece if the piece is gifted, inherited, sold, or otherwise transferred to another owner.
The Certificate and the object are intended to travel forward together.
Limited and Numbered Editions
Nicole Ivy may periodically release products or collections in limited or numbered editions.
The size, composition, numbering system, and other details of a limited edition will be identified in the applicable product or collection information at the time of release.
Where an individual number or other edition identifier is assigned, Nicole Ivy may maintain that information as part of its internal edition records.
Nicole Ivy does not intentionally assign the same individual edition number to more than one authentic item within the same numbered edition.
When Nicole Ivy expressly identifies an edition as closed or retired, additional pieces will not be added to that original numbered edition unless otherwise disclosed as part of the original offering.
Future collections, variations, reinterpretations, or releases do not enlarge a previously closed numbered edition merely because they share certain design characteristics with an earlier collection.
Provenance
Provenance is the history attached to an object.
For Nicole Ivy, that history begins with the piece's origin and continues with the people who choose to keep, use, preserve, gift, and eventually pass it forward.
Nicole Ivy may maintain internal records associated with designated merchandise, including:

edition or identifying information;

original transaction information;
-
Certificate of Authenticity information; and
-
other information reasonably necessary to preserve the integrity of Nicole Ivy's edition and authentication records.
These records are maintained in accordance with the Nicole Ivy Privacy Policy.
Acquiring a pre-owned Nicole Ivy piece does not automatically alter the original transaction information maintained in Nicole Ivy's historical records.
Nicole Ivy may establish additional provenance, registration, or ownership-recording services in the future. No such service should be assumed unless Nicole Ivy expressly offers it.
The Certificate and the Piece Belong Together
A Certificate of Authenticity is intended to accompany the Nicole Ivy piece for which it was issued.
If ownership of the piece is transferred, Nicole Ivy recommends transferring the original Certificate with it.
A Certificate should never be separated from its corresponding merchandise for the purpose of representing another item as authentic.
The Certificate is an important element of provenance, but possession of a Certificate alone does not establish authenticity.
A certificate, edition number, receipt, photograph, marking, package, seal, or other individual characteristic can potentially be separated from an original object, copied, altered, reproduced, or misrepresented.
For that reason, the photograph of a Certificate displayed on this page is provided as a visual reference only.
It should not be used by itself to determine whether another Certificate or Nicole Ivy piece is authentic.
Lost or Damaged Certificates
Original Certificates of Authenticity should be preserved carefully.
If a Certificate is lost, stolen, or materially damaged, Nicole Ivy may require sufficient information to verify the corresponding piece and available internal records before considering replacement documentation.
Nicole Ivy is not obligated to issue replacement documentation where the identity or authenticity of the corresponding merchandise cannot reasonably be verified.
If Nicole Ivy elects to issue replacement documentation, the replacement may be identified in Nicole Ivy's internal records, on the replacement itself, or both, in order to preserve the integrity of the original record.
Replacement documentation does not create a new piece, edition number, or additional place within a limited edition.
Our Commitment to Authenticity
Protecting the authenticity of Nicole Ivy is a responsibility of the House.
Nicole Ivy protects its name, wordmark, monogram, original artwork, designs, packaging, photography, written materials, Certificates of Authenticity, and other legally protectable intellectual property.
Counterfeit merchandise and deceptive representations can create confusion concerning the origin, identity, or authenticity of a piece.
Nicole Ivy may take appropriate action when its name, protected designs, authentication materials, or other intellectual property are copied or used in a manner that unlawfully creates confusion concerning source, sponsorship, authorization, endorsement, or affiliation.
Nothing in this policy claims ownership of intellectual property belonging to another person or organization or claims exclusive rights in elements that are not legally protectable.
Where to Purchase Authentic Nicole Ivy
New Nicole Ivy merchandise is sold exclusively through NicoleIvy.com.
At this time, Nicole Ivy does not sell its products through retail stores, department stores, wholesalers, third-party marketplaces, independent retailers, or other websites.
No third-party seller is currently authorized to represent itself as an official Nicole Ivy retailer, dealer, stockist, or sales partner.
Accordingly, any new Nicole Ivy merchandise offered for sale outside NicoleIvy.com should not be assumed to come from an authorized Nicole Ivy sales channel.
This does not mean that every Nicole Ivy piece offered outside NicoleIvy.com is counterfeit. Authentic pieces that were originally purchased from Nicole Ivy may later be gifted, inherited, resold, included in an estate, offered at auction, or otherwise enter the legitimate secondary market.
However, a secondary-market seller is independent of Nicole Ivy and should not represent itself as authorized by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Nicole Ivy unless Nicole Ivy has expressly established such a relationship.
For the purchase of new merchandise directly from the House, NicoleIvy.com is the exclusive source.
The Secondary Market
Nicole Ivy was created around the belief that beautiful objects can remain meaningful beyond their first owner.
Authentic Nicole Ivy pieces may eventually be gifted, inherited, sold by their owners, included in estates, offered by collectors or auction houses, or otherwise enter the legitimate secondary market.
A genuine Nicole Ivy piece does not become counterfeit merely because it is resold.
However, an independent seller may not falsely represent that it is Nicole Ivy, an authorized Nicole Ivy retailer or representative, or that Nicole Ivy sponsors, endorses, approves, or is affiliated with the seller when no such relationship exists.
Where available, the original Certificate of Authenticity and provenance materials should remain with the corresponding piece.
Possession of those materials may be relevant when evaluating provenance, but possession of a Certificate alone does not constitute independent authentication by Nicole Ivy of a third-party transaction.
Likewise, the absence of original packaging alone does not establish that a piece is counterfeit.
Nicole Ivy does not guarantee the authenticity, provenance, condition, completeness, or title of merchandise purchased from an unauthorized third-party seller except where applicable law requires otherwise.
How Nicole Ivy Evaluates Authenticity
Nicole Ivy intentionally does not publish every characteristic, marking, record, production detail, or authentication method that may be used to evaluate its pieces.
Publishing every authentication characteristic could make those characteristics easier to imitate or reproduce.
When appropriate, Nicole Ivy may consider multiple factors, including:

the piece itself;

edition or identifying information;
-
Nicole Ivy's internal records;
-
the Certificate of Authenticity;
-
original transaction information;
-
brand and production markings;
-
materials and finishing;
-
dimensions and proportions;
-
packaging and accompanying materials;
-
photographs;
-
known provenance; and
-
other characteristics Nicole Ivy considers relevant.
No single factor is necessarily conclusive.
Nicole Ivy reserves the right to decline an authentication request when sufficient information is not available to reach a reliable determination.
Authenticity Is More Than a Photograph
Customers should exercise caution when evaluating merchandise solely from an online listing or photograph.
Images of genuine Nicole Ivy merchandise, Certificates of Authenticity, packaging, or other brand materials can potentially be copied or reused in connection with merchandise that is not genuine.
The appearance of a Nicole Ivy photograph, logo, Certificate, edition number, or other brand element in an advertisement does not by itself establish that the seller or merchandise is authorized or authentic.
When purchasing outside an authorized Nicole Ivy sales channel, purchasers should independently evaluate the seller and transaction.
Counterfeit and Infringing Merchandise
Nicole Ivy may take appropriate measures against counterfeit merchandise, fraudulent listings, unauthorized reproductions, false claims of authorization or affiliation, or unlawful misuse of Nicole Ivy intellectual property.
Depending upon the circumstances, those measures may include:

requesting removal of infringing listings;

reporting content to online marketplaces or social-media platforms;
-
contacting hosting, payment, or other service providers;
-
preserving evidence of suspected infringement;
-
working with appropriate professional advisers or authorities; and
-
pursuing remedies available under applicable law.
Reporting a Suspected Counterfeit
If you encounter merchandise that you believe is falsely represented as Nicole Ivy, or a seller that appears to be falsely representing itself as authorized by, affiliated with, sponsored by, or endorsed by Nicole Ivy, we encourage you to contact us.

When possible, please provide:

the seller's name or account;

a link to the listing or website;
-
photographs or screenshots;
-
any claimed edition or identifying number;
-
photographs of any purported Certificate of Authenticity;

information concerning where the merchandise is being offered; and
-
any other information that may assist Nicole Ivy in evaluating the matter.

Nicole Ivy will review credible reports and determine what action, if any, is appropriate.
Protecting the Record
Authentication is not intended merely to distinguish an original from an imitation.
It protects the history attached to the original.
Nicole Ivy pieces are created for the home that receives them today — and with consideration for the hands that may receive them tomorrow.
A Certificate of Authenticity, edition identity, and provenance can help preserve that history as an object moves forward.
